This site is an
Editors's Choice Destination of Chatelaine magazine.
CANWINE was started in January 1994 to provide a forum for the discussion of Canadian wines. We're not a collection of wine snobs, just a friendly group interested in discussing wines made in Canada of Canadian grapes (and lately, other fruits). If you would like further information about the list, please read the CANWINE FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page updated September 16, 2004.
The Canadian wine restaurant guide includes contact information and a Canadian-themed restaurant in Europe! Revised as of September 15, 2004.
Please note that because of provincial legislation, CANWINE is not able to act as a broker or agent for the purchase of wine on the Internet.
Wines available for home delivery only in the province when they operate.
These are privately owned wine stores that specialize in Canadian wines; shops owned by the wineries or as an offshoot of provincial liquor commissions are not included here. (Alphabetical by province, then by city)
Do you know of a web page that belongs with this listing? Send me complete details and I'll review them for their appropriateness: please be advised that I will not list sites that are not specifically related to Canadian-made wines.
I'm not a home-winemaker (so please, don't ask me any questions!), but if you are, check out the rec.crafts.winemaking newsgroup for winemaking and grape-growing discussions, the excellent Amateur Winemakers of Canada site, Larry Paterson's great site for information about the Canadian winemakers/grapegrowers list called GROWWINE, Grape Growers of Ontario for suggestions of what grows well in our cool climate, and Viticultural Roundtable of Southwestern Ontario.
